What is a Sneak Attack?
It's a way to support independant artisans who are trying to sell their wares online. Two days a week at an appointed time, an Etsy shop with few or no sales is announced on this site. As many people as possible then buy items from that shop, resulting in a frenzy of surprise business to the unsuspecting shop! To the upper right is the current Sneak Attack schedule. To participate, show up on this site at or soon after the time of the next attack and you'll see the chosen shop name in the box above. Then go to that shop and purchase an item, making sure to include the words "Sneak Attack" in the "message to seller". It's also fun to tune into the current thread on Etsy to talk about it with other "attackers".

October 3rd: Meet WMS
I’m Sandi from Handmade By Sandi. I have been talking about our sponsors since July 2010. The very first sponsor I blogged about was WMS from Wine Maker’s Sister. And today I’m sharing some more information about her, like the fact that WMS has been here, almost from the beginning of our Sneak Attacks which started back in September 2008. Yeah WMS!

I asked WMS how did you get started with the Sneak Attacks?
I learned about Sneak Attacks on the 3rd or 4th attack. Very early on! I was a member of EtsyGreetings team. One of the other members of the team had been “attacked” at the previous Sneak Attack and let the other team members know about it. I fell in love with the whole idea of a Sneak Attack. I could immediately imagine how a “victim” might feel when s/he first saw those emails coming in to let them know about their sales. I love the way a group of people could work together — each doing a small thing — and make such an impact on a new seller. Etsy can be a huge, impersonal place. Sneak Attacks suddenly make it warm and personal.
‘Discovered’ a really cute item in WMS’ shop – a cell phone charm made to look like a spinning wheel. Well if you love spinning as much as WMS does, you will adore this hanging from YOUR cell phone!

Have you met Ms Bitty from Ms Bitty Knacks? She is one of my favorite sponsors. Why? Because I like to call her the queen of Halloween! And if you have ever been to her shop – you will know why I say that. She creates the most adorable and ’scary’ Halloween decorations – a passion for her! For example, one of her latest is this ‘adorable’ party couple. This would definitely cause me nightmares!

Like many of us, when we will young, Summer was taught how to crochet by her grandmother. And she loves passing along that craft to others. I recently browsed through her shop, looking for a crocheted item to show you, and found this beautiful, soft scarf that is perfect for any time of the year! And I just love the color.

My yarn line is dedicated to my grandmother who passed away in April. The shop name, ShireKat Yarns, is actually a combination of her first and middle names (Shirley Kathleen) and was the username she came up with for her email account. In honor of her, I donate 10% of every sale to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

I asked MsBitty how she found out about the Sneak Attacks.
I actually found the sneak attack site via Scatterbrain Tees. (made by Michael of Phippsart, the artist who started this great group) I loved the “Buy Handmade” Tee (which by the way I own one). From there I checked the group saw what I liked and joined. At first, I only checked in during the attacks, but then began chatting more and more and just love the little niche. The sneaky members are SUPER AWESOME!
I was browsing through MsBitty’s shop and found this adorable journal, just right for anyone who loves to write!

After a week off, for a holiday and the start of school, we are back to having our Sneak Attack! Today’s attack is sponsored by WMS from Wine Makers Sister at 5pm Etsy time.
WMS loves the world of knitting and fiber and works to make her Etsy shop reflect that love:
I started my shop with general items and have slowly moved toward more and more knitting/spinning-related stuff. It fits my interests well (I adore knitting and spinning) and the fiber community seems to really like being able to purchase little gifts like mugs and stitch markers that fit with their interests.
I browsed through WMS’ shop and found these adorable stitch markers. OMG – oreo cookies – so yummy (Please Do Not Eat!).
